Originally commissioned by the influential furniture design company Herman Miller in 1947, the creations of George Nelson Associates have become enduring icons of design, uniquely combining the functionality of the everyday clock with an uplifting sense of fun, style and colour.
It is a true testament to the quality and impact of George Nelsons designs that they are still considered by millions to be relevant in the fast-changing throwaway world of styles and trends - and I don't know of many designs which go through the generations completely unchanged from their original!
The Vitra Design Museum today presents a true re-edition - not a copy or replica - of the designs so cherished by collectors, in a true to the original form.
